Our food pantry received this from the Food Bank.
Please make use of this or pass it on to someone who can.
Thank you. ~Mary
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MINORITIES
There are a number of companies and organizations that have donated monies for scholarship use to minorities, however a great deal of the money is being returned due to a lack of interest or even worse, a lack of knowing that these scholarships exist. Please pass this information on to your children, relatives, friends with children, etc. There is no need for money to be returned to donating companies because we fail to apply for it.

I just sent this link to my daughter to see if she knows anyone who can use it. Thanks so much for the heads up!!
ReplyDeleteMy mom was a Rhodes - the Rhodes Scholarship guy is in my family tree. Somewhere.
ReplyDeleteDag! I wish there was someone around here to help me go through these things... it will make a fine summer project for KT and me though!!
ReplyDeleteGood thing to do, spread the word. Shame that so many do not take advantage. My grandsons seem to be in the middle. Not minorities but not able to afford college either. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLove from down here.
WILL DO! Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteWOW. Incredible public service, Mary. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU so much for posting this information. It's a tragedy money that could be put to such good use, goes unused!!!
ReplyDeleteSomeone emailed to say that some of these have expired..what I was told is that some scholarship deadlines have passed, but the sites will update with new ones.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I've helped 3 young people fill out scholarships from this list the past few evenings, so I know that many are active.
Linda gave me that award for a reason. Thank you for stopping by, and than you for posting these scholarships. I just came back from bringing another of my granddaughters down for the summer and in the car we had a talk about this very subject. I am so grateful to you.
ReplyDeleteLife as it can, as it should be.
ReplyDeleteDear Mary, thank you so much for this information. I have copied the URL for this posting of yours and will pass it on to about thirty friends who are in the group I call "Dee's List." I'm sure they know many others and will pass it along. It's such a shame that young people don't know about this. Peace.
ReplyDeletenice...i am on these now and checking them out...very cool...
ReplyDeleteCool of you to post this.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is just amazing. I'll be passing this on to our guidance counselors at school! Thanks Mary!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is so good of you to pass on this info. As the notice says, no money should have to be returned to donors!
ReplyDeleteExcellent use of social media, thank you Mary. Though I find myself curious, would you, your food pantry or food bank happen to know if this non-use of higher education dollars is a new trend of these collapsing economic times? or perhaps too many face too much debt already? As a caregiver spouse I see so many societal safety nets in tatters these days I find myself wondering.
ReplyDeleteCaregivingly Yours, Patrick
The Food Bank claims many people just do not know these scholarships exist. I spoke with a local school employee a couple of weeks ago who told me that more minorities are eligible for 100% financial aid than before & so their parents do not see a particular need to file for the scholarships.
DeleteThe children I helped apply just recently had non-English speaking parents, clearly a barrier.
The First Step Is The Hardest.I Hope This Will Make It Easier For Some & Many.
ReplyDeleteMost of these seem geared to the younger crowd; I've thought about apply for grants but with my health I am not sure I could complete them still I have hope for others and I hope they apply for these and thanks for posting them all for folks to peruse.
ReplyDeleteIf I come across someone who can use any of these, i will drag them over here by main force if necessary! Thanks for an important and useful post.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary. Long time no see!! Wow, this is so cool. I will try and spread the news of these scholarships!! Trying to blog again.
ReplyDeletehttp://quiltofmanycolors.blogspot.com/
I've passed this list on to my Chinese-American nieces in case they know of anyone in need.
ReplyDeleteNice to see this. My son has been attending college (he will graduate in May) with merit scholarships. He has no student loans. He told me anyone could go to college free if they did their "homework" and spent a lot of time hunting for scholarship money.
ReplyDeleteYou do not have to borrow money but you do have to keep your grades up. Fair enough!
There are some great scholarships here. Excellent information.
